Things the puppies bring home . . . [Jun. 14th, 2007|12:47 pm]
They've been able to get in and out of the fence again for a few days now.

Early Monday morning just before breakfast: Bobcat head and neck. I hope they didn't kill it. I heard a LOT of coyotes Sunday night, they actually woke me up howling en masse really close one time, so hopefully that was where it came from. Which leaves the question, did they chase off the coyotes or were the coyotes already done w/it? Poor bobcat. I think it wasn't fully grown, cause whilst far larger than a normal cat, it was smaller than I expected a bobcat head to be, even missing ears and all.

Tuesday night around sunset: What I think is a fossilized bone about the length of my forearm, but about as thick as my calf. How long does it take to fossilize bones? And do fossil bones look ultra-bleached white? It's extremely heavy and so hard that knocking on it hurts my knuckles.

Last night around sunset: Tortoise, still alive and undamaged. Tho they were in the house, then went out, and came back in five minutes later w/the torty, so it had to have already been in the yard, for some reason. I tried to explain to them that torty's are off limits. both before and after I carried the tortoise about half a mile away and somewhat off the roads but not that far away from a couple of other houses that I don't think have dogs but will have water sources better than we woulda been, anyhow.

I need to fix the fence again, including small slots at the bottom.

::sighs::
