| Just in case anyone who cares didn't already know . . . |

Shoulda put this in my reviews the other day, tho categorizing it would have been difficult. And is probably pointless because everyone who cares almost certainly does already know.
For Buffy fans, Joss is writing Season 8 as a comic book, each comic telling the same amount of story as one episode of the t.v. season would have if it had been there. 4 episodes/issues in, thus far; ep/issue five due out in August.
I *HATED* the last two seasons of the television show, after loving most of the first five. I mean, really *hated*. At least I hated season six. Season seven was just sort of pathetic and sad and I didn't really take it seriously except to maliciously laugh at it as the creator's just punishment for putting out season six.
That said, Season 8 is mostly working for me so far (at least, insofar as it can work given that it acknowledges that season 6 and 7 actually happened). Mostly good writing. Mostly beautiful art. Not loving what they (errr, he; I think this is entirely Joss's baby story-wise) are doing w/Dawn so far (some things never change, do they?) and have had squicky moments, and liked the 4th mostly because it was not what I was afraid it would be, but otherwise, nice job. Not up to the first four seasons, but compares well w/s5. Much better than S8 and well, if it wasn't better than s6 this would be a very different post. Recommended for fans of the show. |

| The AFI top 100 films meme |
[Jun. 23rd, 2007|12:20 pm] |
bold if you've seen, italicize if they'd make your top ten, strike thru if you hated so much you couldn't make it thru . . .
I might go back later and italicize my top 10 on this list, if I can figure out what they are, since my top 10 is about 30 films. I'm not sure 10 of my top 30 make this list, but there are certainly ten good enough for me to claim them . . . for right now, will just stick w/bolding . . .

The three I'm most embarrassed by not having seen are Vertigo, Grapes of Wrath and On the Waterfront. And I suppose I *should* see Singin in the Rain, tho I don't really want to. City Lights, Modern Times, bah, bad me for not seeing.
I'm kinda shocked that I haven't even *heard* of a couple (Bring up Baby? Swing Time? Sunrise? Sullivan's Travels? Intolerance sounds familiar but I can't place it ... And I'm sure if I could keep the whole list in my head, there would be stuff I'm pissed off is not on it . . . |
