This excellent piece on the FISA/telecomm debacle (again hat-tip to http://sideshow.me.uk for the link):

. . . points out this is the chance for either or both of the democratic front-runners to actually stand up for that whole truth & justice thing (not adding "the American way" because I'm not sure what that means anymore).
Quite seriously, if either of them vote to provide retroactive immunity here, or miss the vote or vote "present", they have no chance whatsoever of my vote. If both blow it, I vote for neither in the primary, and might seriously consider voting elsewise (tho not Republican) in the general (at this point am assuming it will be Hillary or Obama even while hoping Edwards keeps himself alive a bit longer for the sake of the campaign, because he says a lot of good things, and because I still might wind up voting for him).
In other news, sorry for not responding yet to a bunch of interesting comments that I'd like to or saying anything substantial about, well, anything; am not feeling well at all today, am exhausted from one crisis after another over an extended period, some of which I might detail at a future date when less flu-ish & frazzled. |
